Satan’s Doom and Your Power
The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. Romans 16:20 (NIV)
Good morning Family,
In the bible God talks a lot about the devil. Isaiah 14:12-15, Ezekiel 28:16-17
You were the model of perfection, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty. You were in Eden, the garden of God; every precious stone adorned you: Your settings and mountings were made of gold; on the day you were created they were prepared. You were anointed as a guardian cherub, for so I ordained you. You were on the holy mount of God; you walked among the fiery stones. You were blameless in your ways from the day you were created till wickedness was found in you. Ezekiel 28:12-15
Your heart became proud on account of your beauty, and you corrupted your wisdom because of your splendor. So, I threw you to the earth; Ezekiel 28:17 (NIV)
The sad story is that even though the bible talks so often about Satan many Christians do not believe he exists. 40% of all Christian strongly agree that Satan is not a living being but only a symbol of evil. Another 20% would agree with this statement. Most Christian, in other words, refuse to believe in the existence of Satan. This is a scary thought. If we refuse to believe that Satan exists, we are not taking the enemy of our soul seriously. If we don’t take our enemy seriously, he is free to work his evil in our lives.
Peter and Paul make it quite clear that our enemy is indeed a real being.
Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. 1 Peter 5:8 (NIV)
For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Ephesians 6:12 (NIV)
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life and have it to the full. John 10:10 (NIV)
Jesus came to disarm the enemy in the Christian’s life. Please learn to take the devil seriously. Recognize that he is actively trying to kill steal and destroy. How do we begin this process?
Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. James 4:7 (NIV)
You have been given power to resist Satan.
You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. 1 John 4:4 (NIV)
How do we resist?
Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable–if anything is excellent or praiseworthy–think about such things. Phil 4:8 (NIV)
